/   Types of Peshtemal Fabrics: Cotton, Bamboo, Linen and Recycled Cotton

Peshtemal

A peshtemal is defined less by its fibre than by its weave: a flat-woven, light cloth that dries quickly and folds small. The fibre still matters. It changes how the towel feels in the hand, how much water it holds and how it ages after many washes. These are the fabrics used for peshtemals today, and the ones you will find in the Peshtemal House range.

Cotton
Cotton is the classic peshtemal fibre and by far the most common one. It is absorbent, it softens with washing and it takes colour well, which is why it works for both simple stripes and detailed jacquard patterns. Most Peshtemal House peshtemals, terry towels and hand towels are 100% cotton, and each product page lists the exact material, size and weight.

Cotton-bamboo blends
Bamboo yarns used in textiles are generally regenerated cellulose fibres made from bamboo pulp. Blended with cotton, they give a smooth, cool hand and a soft drape. The Peshtemal House range includes cotton-bamboo peshtemals such as Zebra, Verona and Gocek, made of 70% bamboo and 30% cotton.

Cotton-linen blends
Linen, made from flax, has a drier and crisper hand than cotton and a slightly textured, natural look. A linen-cotton blend keeps some of that character while staying soft enough for everyday use. Our Linen Peshtemal is 60% linen and 40% cotton.

Recycled Cotton, Microfiber and How to Choose

Recycled cotton
Recycled cotton is made from cotton waste that is collected, opened back into fibre and spun again, usually together with conventional cotton. Our recycled collection, the Avanos and Pamukkale peshtemals, is woven from 70% cotton and 30% recycled cotton. Recycled content on its own does not make a product certified: PH Tekstil's GRS scope covers towels, kitchen linen and toilet linen with 50% recycled pre-consumer cotton, and a delivery is GRS-certified only when the article falls within that scope and is covered by a transaction certificate.

Microfiber
Microfiber towels are made from very fine synthetic fibres, usually polyester and polyamide. They are light and quick-drying, but they are a different product from a woven cotton peshtemal. Peshtemal House does not make microfiber peshtemals.

Which fabric to choose
For bath, beach and spa use, 100% cotton is the reliable all-round choice. Cotton-bamboo suits buyers who want a smoother, silkier hand; cotton-linen suits a natural, textured look; recycled cotton suits ranges built around recycled content, as long as certification claims stay within scope.

PH Tekstil weaves cotton, cotton-bamboo, cotton-linen and recycled cotton fabrics on its own jacquard and dobby looms in Denizli, Turkey. Peshtemals are kept in stock, and orders start at 100 pieces in total, mixable across all products, also under your own brand. Browse the peshtemal collection or ask us about a specific fabric.
